What is SAP EWM?

SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) is SAP's flagship solution for warehouse process management. It runs natively within S/4HANA and replaces the legacy WM system – whose support will end definitively in 2027.

EWM gives you precise visibility into where every item is located, who is working on what, and how inventory moves in real time – all integrated with purchasing, sales, production, and finance.

You can run it as Embedded EWM (recommended for most companies – it's part of your S/4HANA system) or as Decentralized EWM on a separate server for exceptionally demanding warehouses.

IM

Inventory Management – basic tracking

You only know you have 100 units at a storage location. Where exactly? IM doesn't know.

WM

Warehouse Management – legacy (end of support 2027)

Bin-level tracking is a step forward, but WM falls short for more complex operations.

Extended Warehouse Management – current standard

Full flexibility, Fiori interface, RF terminals, wave picking, Kanban, AI.

What EWM can do

Whether you manage a small distribution center or a large production warehouse, EWM covers it all – from goods receipt to robot integration.

01

Goods receipt and putaway

Receive goods at the dock, the system directs them to the right location – by capacity, FIFO, or fixed bin. No searching, no errors.

02

Picking (Wave Picking)

Group orders into waves, the system optimizes operator routes. Supports RF terminals, voice-directed picking, and pick-by-light.

03

Handling Units

Palletization, packing, label printing – every handling unit has its full history from receipt to dispatch.

04

Kanban and production supply

Empty bin on the line? EWM automatically creates a replenishment task. Production never waits for materials.

05

Warehouse Monitor

One place to see everything – open tasks, goods movements, operator workload. Real-time response.

06

Robotics and automation (MFS)

EWM natively communicates with AGV robots, conveyors, and WCS systems via SAP MFS. The warehouse of the future, today.

07

Physical inventory

Bin-level inventory counts – continuous or cyclical. Every discrepancy is automatically posted – no paperwork.

08

Integration with MM, SD, PP, QM

Every warehouse movement is reflected in purchasing, sales, production, and accounting. No manual re-entry.

09

SAP Fiori – intuitive UI

Clean applications available on PC, tablet, and mobile. Operators can be trained in half a day.

Benefits for your operations

It's not just about software – it's about how your warehouse will operate every day. Our clients feel the difference from the first month after go-live.

Why choose us

We've been on both sides – vendor and customer. That's exactly why we know where projects get tough, what customers need to hear – and what they don't.

Experience from dozens of EWM implementations

Manufacturing, distribution, retail, automotive, beverage industry – different sectors, different challenges. We know where pitfalls lie and how to avoid them.

We speak the customer's language, not just SAP's

The gap between what the customer wants and what the vendor hears is well known. We bridge it – thanks to experience on both sides.

Safe and smooth migration from WM to EWM

Migration plan, testing, training, cutover – we prepare everything so your operations feel the transition as little as possible.

We're with you even after go-live

Go-live isn't the finish line for us. We take care of system development, AMS support, and key-user training – whenever you need it.
